Team Yonex Dominates Indonesia Open 2024, Sweeping All Five Titles

JAKARTA, Indonesia – The Indonesia Open 2024 concluded with an exciting finale on Sunday, June 9th. Celebrated for its vibrant crowds and electrifying atmosphere, the tournament showcased Team Yonex's exceptional performance across all five categories, with our players delivering intense showdowns. Their outstanding performance during this tournament created an even more meaningful impact, leading to the donation of a total of 268 racquets through the new initiative called Team Yonex Gives Back.

 

The final day began with a mixed doubles match, a captivating rematch of the Singapore Badminton Open 2024 quarter-final, featuring two pairs from China. Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin (CHN) faced off against World No.1 and Indonesia Open 2023 champions, Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong (CHN). Jiang and Wei showcased remarkable resilience, securing their victory in just 32 minutes with a final score of 21-11, 21-14.

 

Subsequently, in the women’s doubles final, last year’s champions Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee (KOR) were determined to claim their consecutive title, against the World No.1 pair,Jia Yi Fan and Chen Qing Chen (CHN). In a swift two-game match, Baek and Lee demonstrated powerful and precise plays, ultimately securing victory with the final score of 21-17, 21-13.

 

Many badminton fans gathered and were present for the women’s singles match, a highly anticipated face-off between Indonesia Open 2023 champion, Chen Yu Fei (CHN) against World No.1 An Se Young (KOR). Despite setbacks in the second game, Chen Yu Fei regained control towards the end of the match, leading her to claim her second title at the Indonesia Open. The final score stood at 21-14, 14-21, 21-18.

 

In the men's singles, Shi Yu Qi (CHN) continued his successful run in the tournament, having also secured first place in Singapore just before. Although the match seemed to be going swiftly after the first game, it quickly turned into a challenging game against World No.5 Anders Antonsen (DEN). However, Shi Yu Qi continued to push with powerful shots, ultimately winning the match with a final score of 21-9, 12-21, 21-14, and securing his fourth title of the year.

 

Wrapping up the tournament strong, many badminton enthusiasts stayed to watch the men's doubles match featuring World No.2 Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang (CHN) and Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Tee (MAS). In a thrilling three-game match, Liang and Wang claimed their third victory of this year, with a final score of 19-21, 21-16, 21-12.

 

Through the Team Yonex Gives Back initiative, Team Yonex’s on-court performances at the Indonesia Open 2024 won them more than medals. Every win, personal best, and impressive plays contributed to 268 badminton racquets that Yonex will be donating to the local youth clubs in Indonesia.
