Yonex Aligns with WFSGI and Other Industry Leaders to Combat Physical Inactivity
TOKYO, Japan – Yonex announced its support of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI)’s urgent call for concerted action to combat the physical inactivity crisis that is affecting our world today. We will join other industry leaders in raising public awareness and fostering a global movement towards increased physical activity.
Data released by the World Health Organization on June 26, 2024, reveals that 31% of adults are inactive, with a widening participation gap among women and individuals over 60. If this alarming trend continues, the number of inactive adults is projected to reach 35% by 2030.
At Yonex, our Purpose is to “craft a better future with unique innovations” and our Mission is to “bring the world together by deepening people’s connection to sport and to each other”. True to this Purpose and Mission, we provide support for kids and junior events across all Yonex sports categories and host clinics and events for adults - and in particular for women - both in Japan and overseas.
In answering the WFSGI’s call to action, we reaffirm our commitment to bringing the joy of sports to more people by continuing to be active in local grassroots activities and supporting international tournaments, working with the industry and our partners to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to move more for a better, healthier future.
