YONEX TENNIS NEWS: 2022 US Open - Round Scores (Round of 16)
The US Open Round of 16 Singles matches completed in Day 8.
Both Americans Frances Tiafoe and Jessica Pegula reached to the quarterfinals for the first time at the US Open.
Frances Tiafoe has achieved the stunning victory against 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Tiafoe took the first set, but he allowed a break in the second set. Tiafoe never stopped his aggressive play style, reaching 18 aces and 49 winners and he won the third and fourth sets in a row.
Tiafoe will next face ninth seed Andrey Rublev.
Jessica Pegula knocked out two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova with a straight-sets regardless the interruption due to unexpected rain. Not only to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in Flushing Meadows, it was first time to beat Kvitova. She had no double faults and earned break points won 86%, her concentration throughout the match brought her a big win.
Her next opponent will be No.1 seed Iga Swiatek.
Three men players and two women players from Team Yonex will play at the quarterfinals tomorrow.
