Wimbledon 2023:Wawrinka leads Team Yonex stars into last 32

London, ENGLAND – Even at the age of 38, and a three-time Grand Slam champion, Stan Wawrinka (SUI) is ambitious to achieve more with his Yonex racquet. The head-to-toe Yonex ambassador defeated Argentina's Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to go through to a third-round encounter with defending champion Novak Djokovic. This is the deepest that Wawrinka has gone into the Wimbledon draw since 2015, the year that he reached the quarter-finals for the second time.

From defending champion Elena Rybakina (KAZ) to Jessica Pegula (USA) to Caroline Garcia (FRA), all three of Team Yonex's WTA Top 5 stars are through to the last 32 of Wimbledon.

Rybakina's dominance continues

Rybakina's dominant performance continued as she secured a 6-2, 7-6(2) victory over Alize Cornet from France on Centre Court, extending her remarkable winning streak at The Championships to 9 matches. The head-to-toe Yonex ambassador and World No. 3 played at a high level and she also showed her sporting side, walking around the net to check on Cornet in the second set when the Frenchwoman was in pain after losing her footing on the grass.

Pegula and Garcia show star quality

All across the grounds, Team Yonex athletes were demanding your attention as Pegula, the World No. 4, defeated Spain's Cristina Bucsa 6-1, 6-4 to equal her best result at Wimbledon while Garcia, the World No. 5, advanced with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(10-6) victory over Canada's Leylah Fernandez.

Tiafoe in charge

After winning an epic first-set tiebreak 13-11, Frances Tiafoe (USA) took control of his second-round match with Dominic Stricker, a Swiss qualifier, going through 7-6(11), 6-4, 6-2. The American, who is playing his first Grand Slam since breaking into the top 10, has reached the last 32 without dropping a set.

Former semi-finalists on a roll again

Two years after Denis Shapovalov (CAN) and Hubert Hurkacz (POL) both reached the semi-finals at the All England Club, the Yonex ambassadors are making progress again on the grass. Shapovalov went through with a 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(7) victory over France's Gregoire Barrere while Hurkcaz defeated British wild card Jan Choinski 6-4, 6-4, 7-6(3).

Paul looking to go on another run

Tommy Paul (USA), who made the fourth round last summer on his first appearance at Wimbledon, is through to the last 32 with a 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 6-4 victory over Canada's Milos Raonic, a former finalist on these lawns.

Emotional wins for Team Yonex stars

Emotions were high at the All England Club as Belinda Bencic (SUI) reached the last 32 here for the first time in four years. The Swiss came from a set down for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-2) victory over Danielle Collins of the United States. Another Yonex ambassador, Donna Vekic (CRO), continued her run with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory over Sloane Stephens of the United States while Team Yonex's Magda Linette (POL) also advanced with a 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3 victory over Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic.
