London, ENGLAND – The 2022 winner Elena Rybakina (KAZ) and defending champion Marketa Vondrousova (CZE) will lead Team Yonex on the Wimbledon grass this summer.

The third Grand Slam of the season begins at the All England Club on Monday, July 1^st and, after Rybakina and Vondrousova’s groundbreaking wins in south-west London, there is a possibility that a Yonex star could take the women’s singles title for a third year in a row.

 

Vondrousova, who had never previously gone beyond the second round at the All England Club, made history on the Centre Court lawn last year when she became Wimbledon’s first-ever unseeded women’s singles champion. The left-handed Czech returns to Wimbledon as the world No. 6 and one of the contenders for the Venus Rosewater Dish. Head-to-toe Yonex ambassador Rybakina, whose 2022 victory made her the first player from Kazakhstan to land a Grand Slam singles title, is the world No. 4, also putting her among the women’s elite.

 

King of Queen’s will be a threat at Wimbledon

Tommy Paul (USA) goes into the men’s singles at the All England Club as one of the in-form players after winning the title at the Queen’s Club tournament in west London, where he dropped only one set all week. Paul’s first ATP title on grass, which was the third of his career on all surfaces, propelled him to world No. 12, equaling his highest-ever singles ranking. For the first time, he is the American No. 1, an upgrade in status that will only boost his confidence ahead of the grass-court Grand Slam.

 

Confidence boost for Pegula

 

Capturing a first WTA title on grass, at a tournament in Berlin, has given Jessica Pegula (USA) some extra confidence ahead of Wimbledon. The world No. 5, who reached her first Wimbledon quarterfinal last season, will believe she can go even further this summer.

 

Hurkacz’s love of grass

 

It’s no wonder head-to-toe Yonex ambassador Hubert Hurkacz (POL) says he loves grass. A former Wimbledon men’s singles semi-finalist, he reached the final of this summer’s tournament in Halle in Germany, a run that has taken him to a new career high of No. 7 in the ATP singles rankings.

 

Paolini’s first Grand Slam as a top-10 star

 

Team Yonex has a new top-10 star in Jasmine Paolini (ITA), who was the feel-good story in Paris where she reached her first Grand Slam singles final at Roland-Garros and also appeared in the women’s doubles final. Playing at her first major since joining the elite, the world No. 7 will be hoping she can bring her form on the Parisian clay to the London grass.

 

Ruud goes in search of some Wimbledon history

Head-to-toe Yonex ambassador Casper Ruud (NOR), who has played in two Roland-Garros finals and one US Open final, is looking to go on a long run in the Wimbledon men’s singles for the first time. The world No. 8 has ambitions of becoming the first Norwegian in history to win a Grand Slam singles title.

 

American stars ready to impress in London

With his enormous serve, Ben Shelton (USA) is another American Team Yonex star in the top 20 who has the game and the self-belief to excel on the London grass in the men’s singles draw. A third American, Frances Tiafoe (USA), a former US Open semi-finalist, will be looking to put together a deep run on the Wimbledon grass for the first time.

The seemingly unstoppable Diede de Groot (NED) will be attempting to win a 15^th consecutive Grand Slam title in the women’s wheelchair singles title. Victory in London would also take the Dutchwoman to 23 major singles titles, which would extend her record.

 

Oda looks to retain his Wimbledon title

After winning this season’s Australian Open and Roland-Garros wheelchair men’s singles titles, Tokito Oda (JPN) will be trying to win a third major in a row, which would put him three-quarters of the way to achieving the calendar-year Grand Slam. The Japanese teenager goes into Wimbledon as the defending champion.
