London, ENGLAND – Former champion Elena Rybakina (KAZ) was among the Team Yonex stars who advanced into the third round on the Wimbledon grass.

The head-to-toe Yonex ambassador, who in 2022 lifted the Venus Rosewater Dish after becoming the first player from Kazakhstan to win a Grand Slam title, showed her power and poise during a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Laura Siegemund (GER) in the women’s singles. If Rybakina can go on to win Wimbledon again, it would bring her a second Grand Slam title and would also be the third consecutive year that a Team Yonex athlete has been successful in the women’s singles after a victory for Marketa Vondrousova (CZE) last summer.

Paolini keeps on winning

From the clay of Paris to the lawns of London, Jasmine Paolini (ITA) has been playing some excellent tennis at the European Grand Slams this summer. The Italian, who reached a first Grand Slam final at Roland-Garros last month, has reached the last 32 of the women’s singles at the All England Club for the first time after a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory over Greet Minnen.

Shelton sets up all-Yonex match with Shapovalov

For all the elegance of the All England Club, Wimbledon is a tournament that rewards fighting spirit. For his second men’s singles match in a row, Ben Shelton (USA) came from two sets to one down to keep his run going on the grass, winning a fifth-set, first-to-10-points tiebreak for a 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(7) victory over Lloyd Harris. Shelton will next have an all-Yonex match against Denis Shapovalov (CAN), a former Wimbledon semi-finalist, who was a 7-6(3), 6-3, 1-6, 6-7(3), 6-4 winner over Daniel Altmaier.

Navarro’s best ever Wimbledon

Emma Navarro (USA) has gone deeper into a Wimbledon fortnight than ever before. The American produced a high level of tennis during her 6-4, 6-1 win in an all-Yonex contest with Naomi Osaka (JPN), who was competing at the All England Club for the first time in five years. In all, Navarro has dropped just seven games on the way to the third round. 

American stars keep on winning

London’s grass courts have been bringing out the best in Tommy Paul (USA) this summer. The Yonex ambassador, who won his first ATP singles title on grass at the Queen’s Club tournament last month, has moved into the third round of the men’s singles at Wimbledon after coming back from two sets to one down to defeat Otto Virtanen 4-6, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4. Another American star of Team Yonex, Frances Tiafoe (USA), advanced to a third-round match with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz with a 7-6(5), 6-1, 6-3 victory over Borna Coric. Brandon Nakashima (USA) has reached the last 32 without dropping a set, with the Yonex star beating Jordan Thompson 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.

Yastremska to play Vekic in all-Yonex showdown

Dayana Yastremska (UKR) and Donna Vekic (CRO) set up an all-Yonex match in the women’s singles after they both progressed. Yastremska was a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(5) winner over Varvara Gracheva while Vekic went through 6-2, 6-3 against Erika Andreeva.
