TOKYO, Japan – Yonex is excited to announce the launch of the AD-ACCEL series, an advanced shoe designed to dramatically enhance a player’s footwork speed. It will be available across all court and clay court models and is set to go for sale worldwide on August 23, 2024.

The AD-ACCEL series was developed to meet the needs of competitive players, as they shift to a playing style that focuses on speed and power. It supports superior footwork speed in three key ways by using ACCEL-BOOSTER, a newly shaped TPU shank with built-in carbon.

1)    The front of the shoe curves upwards. This design element is both ergonomic and highly beneficial to any athlete looking to maximize their speed, as it supports a superior forefoot roll forward through the stepping action. Additionally, an extended TPU shank on the forefoot adds extra strength to the pushing action when stepping, supporting superior speed in the player’s footwork.

2)    The central section of the TPU shank has another feature: it provides additional strength when outer-turning force is applied. This means greater flexibility and accommodates superior inner-turning pressure. On the tennis court it means players can slide on all surfaces naturally, and recover and turn at greater speed.

3)    Another benefit of the central section of the TPU shank is that it is layered and provides support to the player’s foot arch. Not only is this comfortable but it returns energy to the player with every step. This helps support consistent footwork motion throughout long, hard-fought matches.

In addition to these advanced features, the AD-ACCEL series is equipped with the POWER CUSHION+, Yonex’s signature shock-absorbing and energy-transferring material in its midsole. This supports the player’s foot from multiple directions and provides a quick spring back to the next step.

* TPU stands for “Thermoplastic Polyurethane,” a material that combines flexible elasticity with the strength of hard plastic. The shank is a component that is mounted on the sole of the shoes to support shock mitigation and resilience.
